What we store

The app keeps your playlists, favourites, history and preferences on your device. If you create an account we store your e-mail address, your devices and your plan.

What we do not do

We do not see or store your playlist URLs or credentials on our servers, and we do not sell data. We do not store the title, channel or address of what you watch; only the type of content when you play with your account.

Anonymous statistics

To know how many people use OndalyTV and what to improve, the app sends once a day a random install id (not your account’s), the platform, the kind of device (TV, phone, tablet or computer), where it was installed from (our website or an app store), version and language, the kind of plan (no account, free, Premium or lifetime), whether it is a test device (Google Play’s automatic testing or one of ours, so it is not counted), whether a playlist has been added and something played in it, how many times each feature was used (for example, “search: 4” or “skip intro: 2”; for a search only the fact that one was made is counted, never the text), minutes played by type (live TV, movies, episodes, catch-up or recordings), playback quality (how long it takes to start, how often it stops to load, and whether the player failed or recovered), how many playlists or servers you have of each kind (M3U link, M3U file, Xtream, Jellyfin/Emby or Plex), their approximate size in ranges (for example, “2,000-10,000 channels”) and whether any has a TV guide, how many times each Premium feature was tried on the free plan and whether the upgrade prompt was tapped, whether in-app messages and new-version notices were shown, tapped or closed, how many playbacks were attempted and how many failed, and, if the app runs into an error, a report of it with web, IP and e-mail addresses removed before it is sent -- never which playlist or channel, or what was played, searched for or opened; you can turn this off in Settings › General. From the IP address that report arrives from, the server works out the country (only its two-letter code) and does not keep the IP. The website counts downloads, visits and clicks on the buy buttons without cookies and without storing anything in your browser: only a hashed fingerprint of your IP address that changes every day is kept, together with the page visited, the language of your browser, the website you came from (referrer) and the campaign tags (UTM parameters) of the link you followed, if any. This website data is kept for about 13 months (398 days). After that, individual visits, downloads and clicks are deleted and only aggregated daily totals are kept, with no fingerprint or visitor identifier. Feedback you send from the app is only published if you allow it, with your first name. While something plays, the app says once a minute that it is playing and what kind of thing (live TV, film, episode, catch-up or recording), with the same installation identifier and never which channel or title, to know how many people are watching at that moment; the server forgets it within minutes and keeps only each day's highest count. The same switch turns it off. When you play Premium content, the account service stores the date, your account, the device, the type of content and a fingerprint of your network (not your IP address), to detect shared accounts and count hand-overs from one device to another. It does not store what you are watching: no title, channel or address.

Third parties

Artwork and synopses come from your own playlist; The Movie Database (TMDB) is only contacted if you add your own API key in the app. Payments are processed by Freemius, our merchant of record, which handles card data, invoices and VAT. Sign-in codes are sent by e-mail. The demo video on the home page is served by YouTube (privacy-enhanced mode) and is only loaded when you press play; until then the page contacts YouTube for nothing.
