How to install OndalyTV on Fire TV Stick

Check your Fire TV device

• The Android APK requires Fire OS 6 or later. Check the operating system under Settings › My Fire TV › About before starting.
• Fire OS 5 devices, including the second-generation Fire TV Stick (2016), are too old for this APK.
• This APK cannot be installed on Vega OS devices, including the Fire TV Stick 4K Select. Check the operating system rather than relying on the device's purchase date.
• Your own playlist: an M3U / M3U8 address or an Xtream Codes account from your provider. OndalyTV includes no channels or content.

How to install OndalyTV on Fire TV with Downloader

OndalyTV is not in the Amazon Appstore. Install it from its APK file with the free Downloader app:

1. Get Downloader

   On your Fire TV home screen, open Find › Search. Search for Downloader by AFTVnews and install it.

2. Allow installation

   When Fire TV asks for permission, allow Downloader to install apps. On Fire OS versions with Developer options, you can also open Settings › My Fire TV › Developer options › Install unknown apps. If that menu is hidden, open My Fire TV › About and press OK on the device name seven times.

3. Enter the code

   Open Downloader, select its URL box and type:

   You can also enter ondaly.tv/android.

4. Install OndalyTV

   When the APK finishes downloading, press Install and then Open.

Add your playlist after installation

OndalyTV opens on the "Add a playlist" screen. Choose M3U or Xtream Codes and type your provider's details; typing with the remote is slow, so the Fire TV app on your phone, which gives you a keyboard, saves a few minutes.

If you just want to see how it works first, press "Try a demo playlist": three channels with a guide, two films and a series, all freely licensed material that you can remove afterwards.

With the Alexa remote

• The ring moves between channels, categories and buttons; the centre button opens; Back goes back one step.
• On a live channel, up and down change channel, and the play, rewind and fast-forward keys work as you would expect.
• Settings › General › Interface size makes text bigger or smaller.
• Settings › Playback lets you choose the player engine if a channel has no picture or no sound: Automatic (recommended), ExoPlayer, VLC or Compatibility.

Updates and plans

• Settings › About › Check for updates downloads and installs new versions; your playlists and settings stay.
• Live TV is free. Films and series (also from your own Jellyfin, Emby or Plex), the 7-day guide, catch-up, multi-view and skip intro are Premium: a yearly plan with a 7-day free trial, or lifetime.
