A Jellyfin client for Android TV and Windows

If you run your own Jellyfin server, OndalyTV shows its films and series on the television the way a streaming app would: big artwork, seasons and episodes, continue watching and a remote that reaches every button. Sign in with your server address, user and password and your libraries appear in Movies and Series.

What you get

  • Every film and TV show library of your server, with covers, plot, cast, rating, seasons and episodes.
  • Skip intro and credits: after two episodes of a series the app recognises its opening and end credits by their sound and offers to skip them, or does it by itself.
  • The original file, played by the app on your device: on Android it tries the device’s own player and then its built-in VLC engine; on Windows the built-in FFmpeg converts on the fly what Windows cannot play. The server is never asked to transcode.
  • Audio and subtitle tracks, a preferred language for each, playback speed, picture shape and a sleep timer.
  • The same app and account on Android TV, Google TV, Android phones and tablets and Windows 10 and 11.

Add your server in a minute

  1. Install OndalyTV: on Android TV or an Android phone, the APK from ondaly.tv; on Windows, the Microsoft Store or ondaly.tv.
  2. Go to Settings › Sources › Add a Source and pick "Jellyfin / Emby" as the type.
  3. Type your server address (for example http://192.168.1.20:8096), your user and your password.
  4. Your films and series appear in Movies and Series. The password is not kept: only the key your server gives the app.

Good to know

  • Films and series are part of Premium: the yearly plan starts with 7 days free.
  • Live TV and DVR from Jellyfin are not supported yet: OndalyTV shows films and series.
  • What you watch and where you stopped is kept in OndalyTV, not sent back to Jellyfin, so the server's own "watched" marks do not change.
  • The server has to be reachable from the device: on your home network, or through the address you already use from outside.

OndalyTV or the official Jellyfin app?

The official apps are free, open source and keep your watched status on the server; if that matters most to you, stay with them. OndalyTV is for people who want a television interface closer to a streaming service, skip intro that learns each series by itself, and one app that also opens their playlists.
